Housing a fantastic location surrounded by beautiful, open spaces, the St Catherine's OSHC service provides an engaging, fun, and playful environment through a team of passionate and dedicated educators.

Located just 20 minutes inland from Airlie Beach, St Catherine's OSHC is nestled in the heart of the charming township of Proserpine. Named after the Proserpina – the goddess of grain and harvest – we service the small cane farming and cattle grazing community with exceptional OSHC care for children.

An Intuitive, Educational & Playful Environment

The St Catherine's OSHC service is delivered by a fantastic team of educators that aim to provide both a caring and safe environment where children can participate in planned experiences whilst developing socially, emotionally and intellectually.

St Catherine's School has a wonderful Parish, holding strong connections between the local and school community. All children, parents and staff are encouraged to participate in decision making throughout our framework and curriculum-based program. Our service is meaningful, educational and acknowledge the importance of play and leisure in a child's life. St Catherine's OSHC care is based around age-appropriate activities and child-initiated playing and learning, delivered through the national quality standard for School Age Care and the "My Time, Our Place" framework.

Hear all about our facility from Our Service Leader, Sarah Berry

How long have you worked in early childhood and/or education and care?

I have worked in early childhood care for 15 years.

Why were you drawn to become an educator in early childhood/OSHC?

I started at St Catherine’s Kindergarten 3 years ago and my passion was (and still is) to make the Kindergarten and OSHC the best it possibly can be. I absolutely love working here with a fantastic team of staff and encourage them and myself to continue being the best we can be. My biggest drive and love for my job comes from the kids. I love coming to work every day and enjoying the smiles, laughs and hugs.

What is your favourite thing about being a service leader/teacher (Director/Coordinator)?

The relationships I build with new and old families, children and staff.

What is the best thing about your centre/kindergarten/OSHC?

At St Catherine’s Kindergarten, we are located in a small town with an awesome community full of beautiful families. Our service also backs onto a beautiful cane farm and a cattle property - we are very lucky to be surrounded by beauty.

What is one thing that you tell all families?

How lucky I am to work in this service and how much I love my job.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

My family have assisted me in following my dreams and are living in the area. I have a lot of nieces and nephews that I enjoy spending time with. I also love the beach.
