Mary MacKillop Childcare North Queensland (MMCNQ), with the endorsement of the Most Rev Timothy Harris, Bishop of Townsville, has made the difficult decision to close St Mary MacKillop Early Learning Centre, Mundingburra on Friday, 19 December 2025.
This decision follows a detailed review which identified ongoing challenges including declining enrolments, demographic shifts and instability, and increasing competition within the local area.
MMCNQ acknowledges that this news may be difficult for families and the community. The decision has not been made lightly and reflects a commitment to ensuring that our services remain sustainable and responsive to community needs.
The Mundingburra team will continue to provide high-quality education and care for children through to the final day of operation. MMCNQ deeply values the contribution the Centre has made over the past 20 years and will look for an opportunity later this year to honour and celebrate its legacy with staff, families, and the parish community.
