St Mary MacKillop Gooddo is an Early Learning Centre located in a remote, Indigenous community on Palm Island in North Queensland. We are situated 65km North-West of Townsville within a group of 16 islands split between the Shire of Hinchinbrook and the Aboriginal Shire of Palm Island.

As the only Early Learning Centre on Palm Island, we take great in providing a safe, playful, and engaging environment for the youngest members of the local community.

Set in a natural environment within walking distance from the main town centre, St Mary Mackillop provides access to families with a courtesy bus that transports parents and children between home and the centre. Ten local indigenous staff are employed within the service to support local families with the care and education of Palm Island’s early learners.

Providing Educational, Interactive Care

St Mary MacKillop provides long day-care, tailoring the program to meet the individual needs of the local children. As the only Early Learning Centre on the island, the centre is vital to supporting the education and care of the local indigenous community’s young people. In addition to focusing on educational programs, the service employs a cook for a nutrition program for the children throughout each day. There is a courtesy bus to transport both children and families to and from the centre each day.

What makes the St. Mary MacKillop Early Learning Centre so special is that the service is entirely inclusive of all children embracing the local culture and community. The team of educators is passionate about providing an educational, engaging, and fun environment in the beautiful landscape of Palm Island.
