Working closely with the school community, St Mary’s OSHC provides an engaging, interactive, and educational after school hours care service to extend each school day. Our passionate, dedicated educators pride themselves on offering a place to welcome all. We cater to the individual needs of each student, nurturing and developing lasting relationships with both the children and their families in Bowen.

Exceptional Before and After School Care

As Bowen is a small, coastal town, the St Mary’s OSHC service is steeped in a local community feel. Surrounded by natural beauty, our facility has been designed to provide a child-friendly environment. Our educators ensure it is a safe, happy, and relaxed place for children. Each day, our team of staff organise new activities, ensuring a fun, playful and interactive afternoon.

Children at St Mary’s are encouraged to create, learn, and explore under unwavering educational support. While not the largest facility, the St Mary’s team ensures that the service is a family-friendly place, where the door is always open. Sending your children to St Mary’s OSHC in Bowen, you can be confident that your children will enjoy the extension of their school day.

How long have you worked in early childhood and/or education and care?

I have worked in early childhood education for 22 years.

Why were you drawn to become an educator in early childhood/OSHC?

After moving to Australia from Brazil after I had learnt English I decided to study Early Childhood as I have always loved working with children.

What is your favourite thing about being a service leader/teacher (Director/Coordinator)?

This is my first position as a Coordinator and I have enjoyed learning many new skills. In addition, my favourite part is being able to spend quality time with children.

What is the best thing about your OSHC?

Being able to interact with all of the children and families on a daily basis.

What is one thing that you tell all families?

Having discussions with families at the end of the day is very important and this allow me to let families know all about their child’s day and what activities they were engaged in.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I am an outdoor person, I love to walk my dogs, go fishing and spending time with my family.
